A traditional carol which was widely popular in the 18th century. This version is based on the singing of Lal Waterson, who it is thought based her tune on the one collected by Vaughan Williams in September 1913 - sung by a waggoner (name unknown), Pool-End, Herefordshire.
Recorded and mixed in the early hours of 18th December, on Common Hill
