As I walked out one May morning, One May morning betime, I met a maid, from home had strayed Just as the sun did shine. What makes you rise so soon, my dear, Your journey to pursue? See how your feet that tread so neat, Strike off the morning dew. I go to seek my father's flocks, His young and tender lambs, That over hills and over dales Lie bleating for their dams. O stay, o stay, you handsome maid, And rest a moment here. For there is none but you alone That I do love most dear. How gloriously the sun does shine, How pleasant is the air. I'd rather rest on my true love's breast Than any other where. For I am thine and thou art mine, No man shall uncomfort thee. We'll join our hands in wedded bands So happy we will be.

Interruption 06:08
“For by 1813, Duncumb, in his report on the agriculture of the country, remarks with satisfaction that many commons are enclosed, and others “gradually converting from their natural state to that which proves more productive and beneficial to society”.

Bring me your demons Sheep forming the shape of an oak tree While two buzzards slowly smear the sky with their graceful wings Lying on a slate floor to try to get cool A crow fell out of a tree today They say its back broke And next doors tree is dying in the heat Rain come

Poor Cow 03:50
Poor cow First the legs. A gruesome signpost Stiff, parallel to the ground. She’s on her side Abdomen stretched and distorted Cruelly inflated Not moving A wasp crawling slowly over her open left eye What kind of rhythms moved her? Deep from the earth, woven in strange colours, pulsing imperceptibly The harsh scraping of passing trains Or twice daily trips to the dairy Those tired legs and deep suffering eyes. Still now, but not quiet.

about

"The music we make has become place based, it happens here. Perhaps it could only happen here. It grows from connections, mistakes, intrusions, exploration. These are chance moments - the coincidence of a blackcap’s song amidst feedback sounds, a folk song as a helicopter passes, the rhythm of strings against a summer’s thunderstorm".

And as John Cage puts it, recordings of such chance moments are “… of no more value than a postcard”.

Postcards then. From Godley Moor. With Love.

The album was released as digital download only accompanied by a strictly limited edition of 50 7”x5” art cards. The art cards were posted out with the first 50 download orders.

The collection of 8 cards are a combination of original poetry, text and artwork and were printed on 100% recycled, uncoated 350gsm unbleached card. Now they are available as digital download pdfs with each download of the album.

Should you wish to burn off a copy of the album yourself* you can tuck it in amongst the postcards for safe keeping.

Profits from the sales will go to Global Greengrants (www.greengrants.org/who-we-are/) - supporting solutions for those whose lives are impacted by environmental harm and social injustice.
